I had chronic childhood asthma, was hospitalised often and never did any sport. One day, about 6 years ago, I started thinking about my dreams. I realised I had always wanted to surf. I remember going out for the first time seeing men over 60 yrs old ripping it up - while I was exhausted just from paddling! But I caught my first wave and was hooked! I joined the local gym to try and get fit and from there it has opened up many new doors to a life I never imagined.
Why I Love It:
I love working out because being strong enhances my quality of life, both mentally and physically.
How I Stay Motivated:

Longer term: working out is a means to an end for me - being strong and having endurance makes enjoying the adventures of life so much better!
BB Accomplishments:
I represented my State and competed in the Australian Open Surf Masters.

From January to June this year I swam 1km 6 days a week. Then I stopped because I had to reduce my cardio to help build up some muscle size. Back then I could swim 50 metres in 45 seconds, on my best days. Today I jumped in the pool and just for fun timed myself - even though I hadn't...
After 3 months on a gaining program and diet I have reached 138 pounds (a gain of 24 pounds). I am starting cardio work again and will add in an extra arm and back workout each week. My goal is to maintain my weight but keep building muscle, improve definition and level of cardio fitness. It...
