When I Started:
Jan, 2008
How I Started:
We had a weight loss challenge in the newspaper I work for. The owners of the local gym invited me and the other two girls to work out for free for three months. I had always been REALLY intimidated by bodybuilders- this helped me realize that I was judging them, rather than them judging me. Now, I can't get enough of it. I just need to develop more discipline.
Why I Love It:
I love working out and going to the gym, because it boosts my confidence even before it changes the way I look. The adrenaline rush is mad, and the people are cool.
How I Stay Motivated:
BB Accomplishments:
HaHa - For me, actually showing up at the gym has been an accomplishment!!! I hope to add more very soon, though~

This was taken in January of '08. I was about 230 lbs. Yuck. You can't even tell that my eyes are open! Fat hiding my eyes! Yeesh....
This was taken in March. I hadn't made much progress, but I had made SOME. (Believe it or not.) I had been trying to get my excercise just by walking. This was my first day to lift weights. It was fun, but I thought I'd die! Ha/Ha
I want to take control of my body, and stop letting IT control ME.
Goal (Long):
I've been given sideways compliments my whole life. For example, people will say, "You have a pretty face." If I weren't so fat it would just be "You're pretty."
I want to build a body to match that "pretty face." I have to lose at least 90 lbs. I won't let myself off the hook at less than that. I also want to build enough muscle to have some definition to my body. Right now I'm just this big squishy lump.
The first small goal I am setting for myself is to be in at least 1 size smaller clothing before my family gets together for Christmas on Dec. 13.
The woman who owns the gym I go to. She is very helpful and definately knows what she's doing. She's a very successful bodybuilder. Although my goals are different than hers, she still knows what I need to be doing. The woman who owns the gym I go to. She is very helpful and definately knows what she's doing. Wow, majorly sore this morning ... in a very good way.
My husband (who recently joined the gym!) and I spent some serious time working out this weekend. Yesterday, we worked until the sweat on my shirt literally almost met in the middle. It was absolutely great - and I still feel good...
Thank you for the comment... btw, we started off in the same place weight wise plus I'm only 5ft1!! So... we're pretty close. A suggestion if you don't mind. What was your graduating weight? Mine was 165 and I looked GOOD!! per Dr's suggestion, that's my goal. Don't go for what the magical "they" say you should be, go for where you're comfortable, healthy and happy!! Keep up the great work!!
Hey there!! Thanks for the note. Things are going well at the gym. I just wrote another blog entry about how frustrated I am that the scale isn't showing a loss in weight, but I know it's because I've gained muscle. I can really see some shape coming in my arms and my legs are definitely getting more defined. I just wish I could see the numbers going down on the scale :( How are things going with you??
Thats funny b/c I'm originally from Ripley, MS. I bet you where thinking that I wouldn't know where Hickory Flat is LOL. I stay in Huntsville AL now but my family still lives in Ripley and I'm there on every holiday and usually once a month
Just stopping by to see how you are doing. You have already done the hard part and that is making a choice of getting fit, trust me I know and been there. It takes baby steps, but worth every effort you put into IT. I started out at 210 and still working at it. You can do, I know you can. You go girl!!!
Todays Affirmation: Constantly keep yourself headed in he right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.
Create a great day!!

I could not do what I am doing now without my "before" pictures. It holds you accountable and there's definitely no room for interpretation. Was it hard? Oh hell yeah! lol Do I cringe when I see it? Every time. So yes, it motivates me to no end. Are you thinking about taking your pics?
