How I Started: I had been lifting a little bit on and off before, but in July I really got into it and made it a serious part of my life.
Why I Love It: What's not to love? I love the way it drives me both in and out of the gym, how the dedication and motivation spills over into the rest of my life. And I love knowing that I have finally found something I am really good at!
How I Stay Motivated: When you are doing something like this, motivation isn't a problem! I love going to the gym and pushing myself to the limits.

The beginning Rearlats
The tiny beginning! I had been in the gym 3 or 4 days a week for the last year but had no idea what I was doing, so I made very little progress.  Got my deadlift up to 410 today!!

I have been very consistent and dedicated to my training. I eat extremely healthy with only one cheat meal a week, even though I am not in contest preparation, and I never miss a training day. If it is the case where I will absolutely have to miss a training day, I will do that...

Many people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they never stopped to enjoy it. Keep finding the joy in your every day. The journey is a blessing.

Hmmm, you do seem to shy away from leg shots. But, I'll bet your calves are better than you think (the Sept. pic was too dark for me to tell) and I'm sure your quads are in great shape as well. Keep at it and you'll outshine me in the leg department in no time!

It's never too late to pick up where you left off with your music. And there's always a Polka band looking for a good tuba player (lol)! Congrats on the 410 deadlift - that number will only go higher!

The road to self improvement is not miraculous; it requires a great deal of perseverance. But your efforts will be amply rewarded. I can't wait to hear you say once again...I WON!!!

Unreal new pictures. The side tri shot looks like a chicken breast went astray hahaha!!! Great size and definition. Ok I see great pipes in this profile pic. Goodness, you change every week it seems. Very impressive!!Now hmmmm I also see another pipe in the background. Ok Mike, tell all your secrets lol!!

But showing definition in flat lighting is a very good sign! Way to break that "Tubby Tuba" stereotype by the way. I'm a cornet (trumpet) man myself. But, I haven't forgotten how to read music and I play once a year just to keep the old lip in shape whether I need to or not!

Is that a new profile pic? Is that a split I see forming on those massive looking biceps? Is that a tuba behind you?

Thanks - I'm kind of hoping I'll be at 18" by January actually, but as I cut up some - gotta have definition - 17.5 is probably a good goal!

Ha - that's great that you think I've made some serious gains! Now I know what it's like to be motivated by visible progress - it's been a long time. I'm looking forward to getting my tri's back to the same ripped condition they were in a couple years ago, but this time with biceps to match!

Thanks for the comment - yeah things are going real well for me right now. I almost feel like a teenager again because I'm growing so fast! Or at least feel like I am. Of course, I have your example to follow when it comes to making serious gains!
