When I Started:
Jan, 2006
How I Started:
I started through sports in high school, and have continued off and on with varying degrees ever since. Over the last year, lifting has become more of a habit, and it drives me crazy if I miss a workout!
Why I Love It:
It's for life. I like feeling good, getting shape and knowing that I can continually improve for years to come. I get a huge kick out of the fact that my kids think I'm the strongest guy in the world (which I'm not).
How I Stay Motivated:
The people here. In the short term, the feeling that I won't be at my best and that I'll lose my progress if I don't push myself hard every day. In the long term, the idea that I'm extending the years of being able to actively enjoy life with my wife and family.
BB Accomplishments:
Making the Most Popular Profiles List (at #1,520 - HA!).
Well, there's now a Democratic nominee for president, so, true to my word, I've started cardio again. In fact, I've switched up my routine entirely. I had moved to splits over 5 days (Chest, Arms, Legs, Shoulders, Back), but decided to try Muscle and Fitness' 3 month challenge,...
Lifting Day 1 - Legs
Lifting Day 2 - Chest and Forearms
Lifting Day 3 - Shoulders
Lifting Day 4 - Back and Calves
Lifting Day 5 - Arms (Biceps/Triceps)
Try to get in Cardio on 1-2 non-lifting days
Abs on and off throughout week, targeting either lower, upper or obliques,...
thanks, mike!! all is well in the off season. i start with a new trainer on the 15th so we'll see where that takes me! i'm excited but nervous cuz i've never trained with a man b4!
Hello, nice to hear from you again. Thanks for the compliment. I think it's pretty impressive when someone is able to balance their time to find time for work, family life AND workouts. You seem to be able to do it well. Of course sometimes there is not time for training but you'll catch up in no time! I hope next week will be a good one for you in all areas of life. Mini
I hear ya. If you're doing triathlons I would keep my lifts at 3x per week for 1/2 hour. Just double up on bodyparts. Do calves and abs on off days. I have several friends that are seasoned triathletes...it's a whole different game. Awesome though.
i know, right?! there's no boredome in tri training.. well, except when you're out running for 2-3 hours or on the bike for 4.. only so much you can talk about to yourself b4 you start repeating yourself.. haha.. glad you're liking it
dont sell yourself short there!11 min isnt bad for 1.5 mile-there is still hope-even for us old athletes who still young at heart but feel way too old to still be kinda young..just keep on keeping on and train as hard as your body will allow!!!!
